In Music in Me classes, children and caregivers explore the universal language of music with instruments, movement, and songs. Early exposure to music in this playful environment positively impacts children’s cognitive, social and emotional development. Students experience percussion, string and wind instruments in developmentally appropriate ways, as well as begin to find “instruments” and music all around them in everyday life. Children observe, sing, dance and play along in this nurturing environment, absorbing musical concepts that lay important groundwork for development of the whole child. Enrollment in class includes digital access to music and home materials.
Music in Me classes invite children and families to experience music in a way that positively impacts all areas of children’s development. Powerful learning and development take place using engaging techniques including:
- Playing Instruments
- Creative Movements
Promote School Readiness
Children’s learning and development is enhanced when concepts and skills are paired with music. Music in Me curriculum uses the time-tested musical classics and folk music, is developmentally appropriate, and targets the following learning domains:
- Literacy and Language
- Math and Logic
Music in Me uses important classical works, folk music, and new compositions, all designed for the young child’s ear and developmental level. The music is written and recorded by local musicians and used in class and at home to teach musical concepts such as rhythm, dynamics, emotional expression, tempo, listening, notation (using the Kodaly method as the groundwork), pitch, introduction to real instruments, playing music together as a group and following a “conductor,” singing, and more!
